Hike - Hardscrabble Loop, East Hampton
Distance: 3.25 miles
Level: moderate
Enjoy a moderate pace hike over basically flat terrain through the scenic woodland setting of the 700-acre Buckskill Preserve. See a mix of native oak and pitch pine dotted with mountain laurel, ferns and wintergreen. Hike - Camp Hero, Montauk

On Memorial Day join us for a hike and stroll through the former Camp Hero, which was from 1942 to 1981 the largest military base ever operational in East Hampton Town. This isn’t only military history. The State Parks trails in Camp Hero feature more than a half dozen bridges over the area’s numerous running brooks. Walk and Tour - Leisurama, Montauk

The Fascinating Story of Leisurama, with Montauk Historical Society. Executive Director Mia Certic leads this excursion through Culloden Shores. The community and beachfront are special, but it's the Leisurama Story, buying a furnished vacation house, down to the silverware and toothbrush, in Macy's circa 1963, that steals the show. Hike - Cedar Point County Park, East Hampton

Experience the beauty of Cedar Point County Park’s oak woods in springtime. The oaks should be budding out, with subtle shades of pale green, pink, and yellow. In part we will hike along Hedges Banks, overlooking Gardiner’s Bay. This is a joint hike of the East Hampton Trails Preservation Society, Southampton Trails Preservation Society, and Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference. Walk and Tour - Amagansett Life Saving Station

East End Classic Boat Society and Amagansett Life Saving Station with Peconic Land Trust. Join us for a beach walk to visit the Amagansett Life Saving Station, established in 1902 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Learn about the invaluable work of those who were stationed there. We will also visit the East End Classic Boat Society. Here you’ll learn traditional woodworking skills used to build and restore vintage boats. This walking tour provides a comprehensive overview of the East End maritime history and its influence on the Amagansett community. Meet 10 AM at Indian Wells Beach, Amagansett.

Explore the easternmost end of Montauk, in beautiful woods with wetlands, streams, and trail bridges. We will pass the secluded Money Pond, where Capt. Hike and Cleanup, Gerard Drive, Springs
Distance: 3 miles

The East Hampton Trails Preservation Society (EHTPS) in conjunction with the Accabonac Protection Committee (APC) and the No Fling Spring campaign of the East Hampton Litter Action Committee (EHLAC), are leading a hike and litter pickup on Gerard Drive and the Accabonac Harbor shoreline. Along the way we will provide historical highlights of this beautiful peninsula and surrounding waters. Hike is 3 miles, flat, with some beach walking. Please join us in maintaining the beauty of this magnificent part of the Springs. Meet at 10am at the first parking area on Gerard Drive shortly after turning off Springs Fireplace Rd. Hike - North Neck Trail and Culloden Point

Join us for a hike of the first section of a new Montauk trail, the North Neck Trail, thence on into the Culloden Point Preserve. Beautiful terrain all around. Consult a map for driving directions: the starting point is off the beaten track. Meet 10 AM on Glenmore Avenue, Montauk, between intersections with North Filmore Road and Fentwood Road. Bike - Sag Harbor and Bridgehampton
Distance: 20 miles
Level: moderate
We’ll meet at the Sag Harbor High School Parking Lot at 10 am and bike 20 miles. We will visit the just-opened Nathaniel Rogers House (2539 Montauk Highway) which is the newly renovated addition to the Bridgehampton Historical Society (photo attached). It is being used as an active center for historical research. Connor Flanagan, chief curator, will provide us with a tour. Hike - Miller’s Ground, East Hampton
Distance: ~5 miles
Level: moderate/some steep hills
Ramble around on the high forested hills at Miller’s Ground, just inside East Hampton Town and north of East Hampton Airport. Beautiful woods match interesting trails with some switchbacks. Topography makes this a challenging hike by Long Island standards. This is a joint hike of the East Hampton Trails Preservation Society, Southampton Trails Preservation Society, and Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference. Meet 10 AM on Wainscott Northwest Road, where electric power lines cross the road, approx. 0.7 mile north of East Hampton Airport terminal building. Bring snacks, liquids & tick protection. Hike - Big Reed Pond, Montauk

Big Reed Pond in Montauk County Park was recognized in 1976 as a National Natural Landmark, and its trail system ranks among East Hampton’s finest. We'll take this easy hike at a naturalist's pace, keeping our eyes open for Spring ephemeral plants beginning to emerge from their long slumber. Waterproof footwear encouraged. Meet at the Big Reed Nature Trail parking area off East Lake Drive, on the right about 1.8 miles north of Montauk Highway. Leader: Jim Zajac 212.769.4311.

Come join us on a relaxed-paced hike in Hither Woods, including Lost Boulder Trail, Riah's Ridge Trail and the Coastal Trail; the latter featuring gorgeous bay views. Hike - Hither Hills State Park Ramble

This moderate-paced hike will take us uphill along the Ocean View Trail that offers glimpses of the ocean at the highest point, then down onto Elisha’s Valley and the Petticoat Trail. East Hampton’s iconic Maidstone Club is one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world. Timeless vistas along the Gardiner’s Peninsula over Hook Pond, the Atlantic Ocean and beyond. Hike - Cedar Point County Park
Distance: 3 miles
Level: moderate
We will hike clockwise through the park. From the camp store we will walk north to Northwest Harbor (the inner beach). We will cross over Gardiner’s Bay (the outer beach), then walk east along it to join the Northwest Path, marked by yellow triangles, which goes along the bluffs and offers great views of the bay. We will follow the Northwest Path south to Alewife Pond, then return to the camp store by trail and road. Meet 10 AM at the Cedar Point Camp Store, near the end of the park road on the left. Check out one of Montauk’s newest trails, in Suffolk County’s North Neck Preserve, as well as the Gunnunks Garden trail loop in the always popular and beautiful Culloden Point Preserve. There are rolling hills, impressive trees, and always little surprises. We will hike the diverse and exceptional trails near Big Reed Pond, then travel further south into Indian Field before swinging back through the ground last lived upon by the Montaukett Indians. Hike - Amsterdam Beach from Third House

Amsterdam Beach from Third House. We will add to the delight of a jaunt through Amsterdam Beach State Park by beginning the hike at Montauk’s historic Third House then hiking a section of the Paumanok Path before we cross Route 27 and enter Amsterdam Beach. There is plenty to see in this beautiful State Park, including the flaring Atlantic from atop the bluffs near Frisbee’s. SPECIAL EVENT: Joint hike with the Southampton Trails Preservation Society. Join Mike Bottini and Dai Dayton through oak hickory forest with spectacular views of several coastal plain ponds. Learn about the new Long Island mammal study being conducted by Seatuck Environmental Association and the history and importance of the preservation of the Long Pond Greenbelt Nature Preserve. Join Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt afterwards for refreshments at the Long Pond Greenbelt Nature Center. Hike - Northwest Harbor

Northwest Harbor was the main port of East Hampton from 1654 until the first wharf was built in Sag Harbor in 1761. Join us for a short walk around the beach of the harbor and learn about its colorful past as we enjoy views of Shelter Island, Cedar Point Park and Barcelona Neck.
