Hike - Sammy’s Beach, East Hampton

  • Old House Landing Road East Hampton NY 11937 United States (map)

Distance: 3 miles
Level: Moderate pace

You don’t have to be Jewish to join this “Between Seders” hike, but you will get a chance to nosh on matzah, supplied by the hike leader. (You'll have to bring your own gefilte fish and charoset.) We will take advantage of the fact that the Sammy’s Beach peninsula from the air looks like the state of Florida. We will start at the parking lot at the end of Old House Landing Road (Pensacola), then walk east along the beach, pass Tallahassee and arrive at the inlet (Jacksonville). We’ll head south along the inlet (Atlantic Coast) to the southernmost point facing Three Mile Harbor (Miami) and then follow the sand road (Gulf Coast) back to the parking lot. Your Uncle Murray and Aunt Ruth in Tampa will be so proud of you!
