White Pine Forest

On Long Island, only East Hampton has a sizeable forest of white pines. The best examples can be found along the Northwest Path where the path passes through an area known as Wilson’s Grove, a place of rare beauty.

The towering pines and the thick carpet of needles tend to mute sounds, even of the wind, and filter sunlight, creating a sublime cathedral-like atmosphere.
