Big Reed Pond
Situated in Montauk County Park, this system is comprised of three interconnected trails of varying lengths from one to three miles.
The trails cross picturesque brooks as they wind along the south and east shores of Big Reed Pond through a stunning variety of ecological sites: salt marsh, cattail marsh, freshwater pond, red maple-tupelo swamp, and a hardwood forest.
In addition to the natural beauty, the trail system is noted for an archeaological treasure: the remains of a Montaukett Indian village dating back several hundreds of years.
